Ingredients
10 g (about 1/3 oz) bird's nest.
Seasonings
15 g bletilla striata (Chinese orchid root), rock sugar to taste.
Instructions
1. Remove any impurities and feathery bits from the bird's nest; wash the bletilla striata and slice it thinly.
2. Place the bird's nest and bletilla striata together in a clay pot, add water as needed, and steam in a double boiler until extremely tender. Strain out the solids, add rock sugar to taste, then steam for a few more minutes until dissolved. This dish nourishes the lungs, replenishes yin, stops coughing, and helps arrest bleeding.
