The fruiting body grows on the surface of the sclerotia, completely appressed, 3-8 cm thick, white, fleshy, turning light brown when aged or dried. The tubes are dense, 2-3 mm long, with thin walls; the pores are round, polygonal, or irregular in shape, 0.5-1.5 mm in diameter, with the margins often splitting into tooth-like structures.
