Medicinal Properties
The dried skin is polygonal, brush-like, or strip-shaped, with some edges curled into a tubular or coiled form. The outer surface is densely covered with interwoven spines, 1.5-2 cm long, hard as needles, and varying in color from gray-white, yellow, to gray-brown. The abdominal skin has gray-brown soft hairs. The inner surface is gray-white or brown. It has a special fishy odor.

Pharmacology
This product has hemostatic effects and promotes smooth muscle peristalsis.
Properties and Channel Entry
Bitter, astringent, and neutral. Enters the Kidney, Stomach, and Large Intestine channels.
Functions and Indications
Consolidates essence and reduces urination, astringes to stop bleeding, and disperses stasis to alleviate pain. Used for nocturnal emission and spermatorrhea, enuresis and frequent urination, bloody stool and hemorrhoidal bleeding, epigastric stabbing pain, and regurgitation of food.
Dosage and Administration
6-12 g, used after processing, decocted for oral administration or taken as powder.

1. For regurgitation and vomiting of food: burn hedgehog (*Erinaceus europaeus*) skin to ashes, take with wine or decoct the juice, or marinate with five flavors and roast for consumption.
