Harvesting and Processing
Take human hair, remove impurities, wash with alkaline water to remove oil and grime, rinse clean with clear water, sun-dry, smolder into charcoal, and allow to cool.
Medicinal Properties
This product appears in irregular lumps of varying sizes. It is black and lustrous, with numerous fine pores on the surface, resembling a sponge. The texture is light, brittle, and easily broken, with a honeycomb-like cross-section. When burned, it emits a burnt odor and tastes bitter. The best quality is black, shiny, light in weight, and free of impurities.

Dosage and Administration
Oral: decoct in water, 5-10 g; grind into powder, 1.5-3 g per dose. External use: appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply, or mix with oil, or boil into paste for application.
Prescriptions
1. For hemoptysis, and also for hematemesis, epistaxis, and bloody stool from the two lower orifices: calcined *ocher* 9 g, *Sanqi* 6 g, calcined *charred human hair* 3 g. Grind together into a fine powder, divide into two doses, and take with boiled water. (From *Yizhong Canxi Lu*, "Huaxue Dan") 2. For hematuria: Take an appropriate amount of human hair, burn it to retain its properties, and grind into a fine powder. Separately, freshly pick *Cebaiye* (Platycladus orientalis leaves), pound to extract juice, mix with glutinous rice flour to form a paste, and make pills the size of *wutong* seeds. Take 50 pills on an empty stomach with plain boiled water, or take with a decoction of *Siwu Tang*. (From *Songya Yijing*, "Michuan Fahui Wan") 3. For dysuria: *Huashi* (talcum) 0.6 g, *Luanfa* (human hair) 0.6 g, *Baiyu* (white fish) 0.6 g. Pound the above three ingredients into a powder. Take 1.5 g with water, three times daily. (From *Jinkui Yaolue*, "Huashi Baiyu San") 4. For jaundice: Burn human hair, mix with water, and take 3 g, three times daily. (From *Zhouhou Fang*) 5. For persistent lochia and abdominal distension with pain: Take human hair the size of a chicken egg, wash clean with ash water, burn to a powder, and take with wine. (From *Waitai*, "Jiuji Fang") 6. For chapped hands and feet: Take a large handful of human hair and one bowl of *tong* oil (tung oil). Heat in an earthenware vessel until the oil boils and the hair melts completely. Remove from heat, let cool, and store in an earthenware container, preventing ash from entering. Before use, soak the chapped area in boiling water to soften, dry, and apply the ointment.
