Harvesting and Processing
Harvested mainly in summer and autumn; for *Solenognathus hardwickii* and *Syngnathoides biaculeatus*, remove skin and membrane, wash clean, and sun-dry; for *Syngnathus acus*, wash clean directly and sun-dry.
Chemical Constituents
Contains cholesterol, cholesten-3-one,N- Phenyl -β- Aniline. The fat-soluble fraction contains large amounts of free fatty acids, mainly myristic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid.
Pharmacology
It has sex hormone-like effects, regulates immune system function, anti-tumor activity, inhibits monoamine oxidase activity, and reduces lipid peroxides.

Sweet, salty, warm. Enters the Liver and Kidney channels.
Functions and Indications
Warms the Kidneys and strengthens Yang, disperses masses and reduces swelling
Dosage and Administration
Oral: decoct in water, 3-9 g; grind into powder, 1.5-3 g. External use: apply an appropriate amount of powder topically.
Precautions and Contraindications
Pregnant women and those with Yin deficiency with effulgent Fire or with external contraction should be prohibited from taking.
Prescriptions
1. For scrofula (chronic lymphadenitis, tuberculous lymphadenitis) and goiter (simple thyroid enlargement): Hailong 9 g, Donggu Lianjiao 18 g, Zicai 9 g, Hongzao 30 g. Decoct in water and take orally. (Hailong Decoction, "Clinical Application of Chinese Herbal Medicine") 2. For internal injuries from falls and bruises: Bake Hailong dry, grind into powder, take 3 g each time with warm wine. ("Qingdao Chinese Herbal Medicine Manual") 3. For uterine inertia with weak contractions causing difficult labor: Hailong 9 g, boil in water, add half a cup of Huangjiu, take warm. ("Shandong Medicinal Animals")
