Processing

Take Gualouzi (Trichosanthes seed), follow the stir-frying method, using gentle heat to stir-fry until slightly puffed up, then remove and allow to cool. The material to be stir-fried should be dried and sorted by size; stir-fry with even heat, constantly turning, and control the heating temperature, duration, and degree of processing as required. (Plain stir-frying method: Place the material to be processed in a stir-frying container, heat with gentle flame to the specified degree, then remove and allow to cool.)

Medicinal Properties

This product is flat and elliptical in shape, 12-15 mm long, 6-10 mm wide, and approximately 3.5 mm thick. The surface is light brown to dark brown, smooth, occasionally with burnt spots, with a ring of grooves along the edge. The apex is pointed, with a hilum, and the base is bluntly rounded or narrower. The seed coat is hard; the inner seed coat is membranous, grayish-green, with 2 cotyledons that are yellowish-white and rich in oil. The odor is slightly scorched and fragrant, and the taste is bland.

Sweet, cold. Enters the Lung, Stomach, and Large Intestine channels.

Functions and Indications

Moistens the Lungs, resolves Phlegm, lubricates the Intestines, and unblocks Bowels. Used for dry cough with sticky Phlegm and constipation due to intestinal dryness.

Dosage and Administration

9-15 g.

Precautions and Contraindications

It is not suitable to use in combination with Chuanwu, processed Chuanwu, Caowu, processed Caowu, and Fuzi.
