Processing
Take the processed Tian Nan Xing (Arisaema erubescens), soak in water according to size, changing the water 2-3 times daily. If white foam appears, add Bai Fan (alum) after changing the water (for every 100 kg of Tian Nan Xing, add 2 kg of Bai Fan), soak for one day, then continue changing the water until a slight numbing sensation on the tongue is felt when cut and tasted. Remove and place Sheng Jiang (fresh ginger) slices and Bai Fan in a pot with an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil, then add the Tian Nan Xing, boil together until no dry core remains, remove, discard the ginger slices, air-dry to 40-60% dryness, cut into thin slices, and dry thoroughly. For every 100 kg of Tian Nan Xing, use 12.5 kg each of Sheng Jiang and Bai Fan.

Bitter, acrid, warm; toxic. Enters the Lung, Liver, and Spleen channels.
Functions and Indications
Dries Dampness and transforms Phlegm, expels Wind and stops spasms, dissipates masses and reduces swelling. Used for stubborn Phlegm with cough, Wind-Phlegm vertigo, Wind-stroke with Phlegm congestion, facial paralysis, hemiplegia, epilepsy, convulsions, tetanus; external use for abscesses, snake and insect bites.
