Processing
Take Caowu (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii), separate the large and small pieces, soak in water until there is no dry core inside, remove, add water and boil until a large piece when cut open shows no white core inside and the tongue feels slightly numb upon tasting, then remove, air-dry to 60% dryness, cut into thin slices, and dry.
Medicinal Properties
This product appears as irregularly round or nearly triangular slices. The surface is blackish-brown, with grayish-white polygonal cambium rings and punctiform vascular bundles, along with gaps; the edges are wrinkled and curved. The texture is brittle. Odor: faint; Taste: slightly pungent and spicy, with a mild numbing sensation on the tongue.
Properties and Channel Entry
Pungent, bitter, hot; toxic. Enters the Heart, Liver, Kidney, and Spleen channels.
Functions and Indications
Expels Wind and eliminates Dampness, warms the channels and alleviates pain
Dosage and Administration
1.5-3 g, should be decocted first and decocted for a long time.
Precautions and Contraindications
For raw product, internal use should be used with caution; contraindicated during pregnancy; incompatible with Banxia, Gualou, Gualouzi, Gualoupi, Tianhuafen, Chuanbeimu, Zhebeimu, Pingbeimu, Yibeimu, Hubeibeimu, Bailian, and Baiji.
