Processing
Take Gardenia Fruit (Zhizi), or crush it, and stir-fry according to the plain stir-frying method (see the item under "Stir-fried Trichosanthes Seed") using medium heat until the surface becomes burnt brown or burnt black, the inner surface of the pericarp and the surface of the seeds become yellowish-brown or brownish-brown, then remove and allow to cool.
Medicinal Properties
This product is shaped similarly to Gardenia or appears as irregular fragments, with a surface that is charred brown or charred black. The inner surface of the pericarp is brown, and the seed surface is yellowish-brown or brownish-brown. Odor: faint; Taste: slightly sour and bitter.

Bitter, cold. Enters the Heart, Lung, and Sanjiao channels.
Functions and Indications
Cools Blood and stops bleeding. Used for blood-heat vomiting of blood, nosebleed, hematuria, and uterine bleeding.
