Ingredients
Firm tofu or Chinese hot pot tofu, and daikon radish (grated into a paste using a blender) to taste, plus 4 cups of water.
Seasonings
Soy sauce 1 cup, Japanese mirin 1/2 cup, white granulated sugar 1/2 cup, ginger (grated to juice), shredded nori seaweed, and cake flour each to taste.
Instructions
1. Bring soy sauce, water, mirin, ginger juice, and sugar to a boil, then set aside.
2. Cut the hot pot tofu into 8 pieces and coat them in cake flour; heat oil to about 140°C (285°F), then deep-fry the coated tofu pieces until golden brown and remove from the oil.
3. Place an appropriate amount of grated daikon radish on the tofu, drizzle with the prepared tofu sauce, and top with some shredded nori seaweed before serving.
