Japanese Red Bean Rice

Discover how to make authentic Japanese Red Bean Rice with glutinous rice and red beans.

Ingredients

90 g (about 1/2 cup) red beans, 500 g (about 4 cups) long-grain glutinous rice, 4 cups water, toasted black sesame seeds to taste.

Seasonings

Salt to taste.

Instructions

1. Rinse the red beans, then add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce to medium heat and cook for 10 minutes, then turn off the heat and let cool.

2. Rinse the long-grain glutinous rice, drain it, then mix with the cooled red beans and their cooking liquid, letting it soak for about 1 hour before cooking in a rice cooker. When serving, sprinkle a pinch of salt and black sesame seeds over the rice.
