Braised Belt Fish with Laba Garlic

Ingredients

300 g (about 10 oz) belt fish, 50 g (about 1.75 oz) pork slices, 50 g (about 1.75 oz) Laba garlic, 50 g (about 1.75 oz) dried tofu.

Seasonings

10 g star anise, 1/2 teaspoon each chicken bouillon powder, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar, 3 tablespoons each Laba garlic vinegar and all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil.

Steps

1. Clean the beltfish, cut into sections, briefly marinate in Laba garlic vinegar, then deep-fry in hot oil until golden brown and remove; rinse the dried tofu and slice into pieces.

2. In the same pan, stir-fry the pork slices and star anise until fragrant, then add the dried tofu, and season with soy sauce, sugar, salt, Laba vinegar, and chicken bouillon.

3. Then add the belt fish and cook until flavored, add the Laba garlic and simmer until the sauce thickens, then drizzle with sesame oil and serve.
