Sesame Balls

Ingredients

700 g glutinous rice flour, 300 g japonica rice flour, and water as needed.

Seasonings

200 g (about 1 cup) white sugar, 150 g (about 2/3 cup) oil, toasted sesame seeds to taste.

Instructions

1. Add sugar to a pot with enough cold water and cook to form a syrup, then set aside; combine glutinous rice flour and rice flour, add enough water and knead into a dough, then divide into several portions and set aside.

2. Heat oil in a clean wok until it begins to smoke, then remove the wok from the heat and stir in the prepared sugar syrup. Return the wok to the heat and gently drop the dough balls one by one into the oil. Fry until each ball is coated with syrup, floats to the surface, and turns a golden brown. Remove and drain off excess oil. Transfer the fried sesame balls to a separate container filled with toasted sesame seeds and roll them around until fully coated. This snack is golden in color, sweet, and deliciously satisfying.
