Ingredients
500 g Chinese yam (about 1 lb), 50 g hawthorn cake.
Seasonings
60 g (about 1/4 cup) cooked peanut oil, 150 g (about 3/4 cup) sugar.
Instructions
1. Scrub the Chinese yam clean, place it in a steamer basket, and steam over high heat until tender (about 20 minutes). Remove, let cool, then peel off the skin and mash into a fine paste with a knife. Cut the hawthorn cake into small diamond-shaped pieces or other decorative shapes.
2. Place a wok over high heat, add peanut oil and the yam paste, then stir in sugar and cook until well combined. Transfer to a plate and arrange hawthorn cake slices on top. This snack has a smooth, fine texture and a sweet, aromatic flavor, with an elegant presentation.
