Ingredients
400 g (about 14 oz) of hawthorn berries.
Seasonings
20 g white sugar, 15 g osmanthus sauce.
Instructions
1. Wash the red hawthorn berries, remove the cores using a metal tube about 0.5 cm in diameter, then place them in a pot with clean water and simmer over low heat until half-cooked, then remove and peel off the skins.
2. Place water and sugar in a pot, bring to a boil over medium heat, skim off any foam once the sugar dissolves, then add the hawthorn berries, reduce to low heat and simmer until the syrup thickens, gently stir in osmanthus sauce, and transfer to a serving plate. This dish has a glossy red color, a balanced sweet-and-sour flavor, and is deliciously appetizing.
