Ingredients
10 g red ginseng (or 30 g codonopsis root), 100 g Chinese yam, and 1 black-skinned chicken.
Seasonings
brown sugar and fine salt, both to taste.
Instructions
Wash and cut the Chinese yam into chunks; grind the ginseng into powder or slice it; clean the black-boned chicken by removing feathers and innards. Place all three ingredients in a clay pot and simmer over medium heat until the ginseng and chicken are tender and fully cooked. Just before serving, add brown sugar or a pinch of salt to taste.
Serving Method
Consume the above amount over 3 to 4 days. Within the first 3 days after childbirth, only drink the broth; after 3 days, you may eat both the broth and the meat. This soup boosts energy, strengthens the spleen, and stimulates the appetite.
