Ingredients
750 g fresh asparagus (about 1.65 lbs)
Seasonings
1 tablespoon salt, 2 teaspoons each MSG and sesame oil, 100 g (about 3.5 oz) fermented black soybeans in brine.
Steps
1. Peel and wash the fresh asparagus, then cut into 8 cm (about 3-inch) segments. Blanch in boiling water until just tender, then remove and let cool.
2. Finely chop the fermented black soybeans, place them in a bowl, add salt and MSG to taste, and stir to combine into a seasoning mixture, then add the asparagus segments and let them soak for 3 hours until fully infused with flavor.
3. Remove the asparagus pieces, arrange them neatly on a plate, then stir sesame oil into the reserved cooking liquid until well combined, and pour this mixture over the asparagus before serving.
