Ingredients
500 g (about 1 lb) loofah (Chinese okra), 75 g ham sausage.
Seasonings
Sesame oil 1 teaspoon, vegetable oil, salt, and sugar to taste, MSG 1 teaspoon.
Steps
1. Wash the loofah, peel it, split it lengthwise down the middle, scoop out the soft center, then cut crosswise into 3 cm (about 1.2-inch) sections, and finally slice lengthwise into 0.5 cm (about 1/4-inch) wide strips; cut the ham sausage into 3 cm (about 1.2-inch) long strips that are 0.5 cm (about 1/4-inch) thick.
2. Add some water to a pot, along with salt and vegetable oil, and bring to a boil. Add the loofah strips, return to a boil over high heat, and blanch for about 3 minutes until fully cooked. Drain well, let cool, then transfer to a large ceramic bowl. Add the ham sausage strips, salt, MSG, sugar, and sesame oil, and toss to combine. Serve.
